Finding and Creating Opportunities in AI Safety

Tobias Martin argues that AI safety is such a small and new field that it is full of gaps, and therefore full of opportunities, and that speaking Spanish is both an advantage and a disadvantage, since many resources are concentrated in the English-speaking world. Drawing on his own path, in which his Spanish-language videos led him to the Future of Life Institute's Digital Media Accelerator and a grant for a Spanish-language series, and his involvement in BAISH led to the MARS V fellowship (Cambridge / Oxford) and research on verification and governance, he proposes a method for finding one's own niche: take stock of your personal asymmetries, look for what "should exist" but doesn't yet exist in Spanish, ask why you and why now, and launch a minimal, public version as soon as possible.
