A career in AI safety: a personal story from Buenos Aires

In this talk, Eitan Sprejer shared his personal journey in AI safety, and noted that almost none of what he has achieved happened in isolation, with networking probably being the most important thing one can be doing to progress in this field. He explained that founding BAISH, Argentina's AI safety network, was one of the most important decisions of his career, as it connected him with both the local and global network, and from there he offered his advice for anyone looking to make their way in AI safety: attend events in the local network and, above all, the global one, connect with people through personal contacts or cold messages, offer help and build things in public, as these are some of the highest-impact actions one can take for one's own career.
